A grounded framework
Healing Elements is grounded in the four elements: Fire, Air, Water, and Earth, because they reflect how healing, organizing, and transformation actually happen in real bodies, real communities, and real conditions.
Rather than functioning as metaphors alone, the elements are understood as lived experiences. They shape how we survive, relate, and build together. Therefore, they form a practical and embodied foundation for the work.
Embodied learning through elements
Each element inspires the workshops, practices, and foods offered within RESET MOM. In this way, learning becomes embodied and relational rather than abstract.
In addition, sharing meals is understood as a political practice. Knowledge about food, healing, and survival is often not passed down consistently across generations. Therefore, making time and space to eat together, regardless of scale, becomes a vital ritual. It allows for the exchange of wisdom, mutual recognition, and collective care.
Fire: Transformation & Agency
Fire represents transformation, agency, rage, passion, and creative force.
Within RESET MOM, Fire acknowledges that many marginalized communities hold justified anger and a strong desire for change. Instead of suppressing this energy, the work channels it into clarity, boundaries, and collective action. As a result, Fire becomes the starting point of grassroots transformation.
Workshops inspired by Fire:
Dancing, rhythmic movement, rage release
Food & ritual:
Spicy, warming meals that energize body and spirit. These are shared as rituals of agency and intergenerational knowledge.
Air: Breath, Voice & Knowledge
Air represents breath, communication, storytelling, and shared knowledge.
RESET MOM intentionally centers Air by creating space for voices that have been ignored, silenced, or misunderstood, especially Black, BIWOC*, and TINBIPoC experiences. Moreover, Air ensures participation, consent, and mutual understanding within the work.
As a result, the initiative remains open, relational, and multilingual.
Workshops inspired by Air:
Singing, breathwork, photography, sound practices
Food & ritual:
Light, aromatic foods that support clarity. These meals become moments for exchange, reflection, and storytelling.
Water: Emotion, Care & Healing
Water represents emotion, grief, joy, and emotional movement.
RESET MOM recognizes that healing is rarely linear. Many participants carry unprocessed trauma, loss, or exhaustion. Therefore, Water allows emotions to move instead of stagnate.
In addition, Water ensures that care remains central. Without care, grassroots spaces cannot sustain themselves. Consequently, Water keeps the initiative responsive, human, and relational rather than performance-driven.
Workshops inspired by Water:
Journaling, emotional sharing circles, meditation
Food & ritual:
Hydrating, fluid-rich foods that support emotional regulation and connection.
Earth: Stability & Sustainability
Earth represents grounding, structure, rest, and material stability.
RESET MOM focuses on building something sustainable and tangible, rather than purely inspirational. In contrast to fast or extractive systems, Earth emphasizes slowness, accessibility, and responsibility toward community needs.
Furthermore, Earth helps prevent burnout and ensures long-term continuity.
Workshops inspired by Earth:
Nature walks, clay work, gardening
Food & ritual:
Root vegetables, grains, and grounding meals shared as acts of presence and connection to land.
Why the elements matter
Together, the four elements create balance:
- Fire initiates change
- Air connects and informs
- Water heals and regulates
- Earth sustains and stabilizes
As a result, RESET MOM integrates healing with justice, embodiment with structure, and emotion with material reality.
Ultimately, the elements keep the work alive, relational, and grounded in both ancestral wisdom and present-day conditions. Through shared meals, workshops, and practices, RESET MOM creates space for intergenerational knowledge, collective care, and food as a political and communal act.
